Restaurant Ammolite (the Lighthouse restaurant) in Rust (Baden-Württemberg), Brenners Park Restaurant in Baden-Baden (Baden-Würtenberg) and Esszimmer in Munich, have all gained a second star in the 2015 guide. Noteworthy is that Restaurant Ammolite is situated on Europa-Park, the largest theme park in Germany, and EssZimmer in Munich is located in the BMW exhibition centre and museum BMW Welt.
Two-star restaurant Villa Merton will no longer be featured in the guide, as the restaurant will close at the end of 2014. Restaurant Buddenbrooks in Lübeck has been demoted to one-star, due to a chef change. The 2015 guide will feature 38 two-star restaurants in total.
Now fewer than 31 restaurants debut in the 2015 guide with one Michelin star. Among the winners are: Restaurant a.choice at the Andel's Hotel in Berlin, Frühsammers Restaurant, also in Berlin, Sra Bua by Juan Amador at the Kempinski Hotel Gravenbuch, near Frankfurt, Himmel un Äd and maiBeck, both in Cologne, and Restaurant N°15 in Munich.
With these new additions the 2015 Germany guide counts 233 one-star restaurants in total (226 in the 2014 guide).
The 2015 guide also sees a small rise of the number of restaurants in the Bib Gourmand category (3 courses for €35). Michelin awarded 69 restaurants this accolade bringing the total number of Bib Gourmand restaurants in Germany up to 474 (452 in the 2014 guide).
